"Black Women Been Ready" — Therapy for Black Girls

Late Sunday evening, 44,000 women logged onto Zoom to support now-presidential nominee Kamala Harris and raise money for her campaign. Onlookers were in awe at how quickly Black women organized themselves in support of causes that matter to us. There’s a common misconception that this mobilization happened out of thin air. Well, it should be noted that “Black women been ready” for this moment. This group and organization have been around since Vice-President Kamala Harris first ran for president. This gives more credence to the manner in which Black women are always prepared, always ready, and always arming themselves for daunting times.

This should be a reminder that Black women shouldn’t be doubted. As we are in the thick of election season and approach one of the most mentally taxing elections our country has ever seen, let this be a reminder to YOU, Black woman, that you can do anything you set your mind to.

The resilience, strength, and unity of Black women are nothing new. We have a long history of standing at the forefront of social justice movements, pushing for change, and fighting for what’s right. From the civil rights movement to the Black Lives Matter movement, Black women have always been the backbone of progress.

Vice-President Harris’s campaign is just another example of how we step up when it’s time to lead. The support she received was not just about a political figure; it was about rallying behind a shared vision of equality, justice, and opportunity for all. It was about lifting each other up and ensuring that our voices are heard loud and clear.
